Sony relaunch PS3 update 4.45 - 27th June

Sony have announced that they will be relaunching the 4.45 update for it's PS3 firmware on 27th June after the previous release negatively affected some consoles by bricking them.

After receiving complaints from some users that the update, which allowed the user to disable trophy notifications during gameplay, was causing the console to go into lockdown Sony quickly pulled the update in order to rectify the situation.  In some cases users were reporting that the power button was disabled and that they had to physically pull the plug in order to reboot their systems and, upon reboot, the PS3 logo would display but the crossbar menu was suspiciously absent.  Feedback on the official PS3 forums seem to indicate that it was only systems with a 500gb+ hard drive that were negatively affected, details of how the new update will be implemented on bricked systems are expected on 27th June also.
